Girls hit Commonwealth Trail

Bournemouth Sports Table Tennis Club

Two girls from Bournemouth Sports TTC will represent their respective countries in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this July. Chloe Thomas, who now lives and trains locally, will represent Wales and Hannah Hicks England. We wish the two players all the best for the Games and feel that their selection is well deserved. Hannah of course has a previous Silver Medal in the Commonwealths and also a 4th place in the team event, when England just lost out to Malaysia. Perhaps this is Chloe's turn for a medal!

Good results from the Bournemouth girls in the Luxembourg Open which took place from the 16th to 19th April. Hannah Hicks and Tressa Armitage reached the quarters of the Women’s Team, beating Sweden 1 on the way by a comfortable 2 – 0 with good wins over Daniela Moskovits (WR299) and Jennifer Jonsson (WR303), both ranked well above the English girls. They lost 1 – 2 to the winners Switzerland but Tressa had a great win over Rahel Aschwanden (WR 282).

Youth & Mini Rugby Tournament - 5th & 6th April

Bournemouth Sports Table Tennis Club

This is a gentle reminder to all that the Youth & Mini Rugby Tournament will be held on the 5th & 6th April and will impact club access as a result.

Car parking over the weekend for all will be in the overflow car park. The event relies on volunteers and we would appreciate people being polite to those helping in the car park. It will hopefully be a busy weekend with lots going on so even if you are not playing sport, come along and see what's going on.

Memorable Weekend for Chloe in Sweden

Bournemouth Sports Table Tennis Club

There are not many table tennis players who arrive at a foreign airport on their way home to find their picture on the front page of the newspapers in the foyer. But this happened to Chloe Thomas after saving her Elite Swedish team from relegation last weekend. Chloe was 'headhunted' by one of the smaller Elite Clubs after Xmas, when their professional player Carolyn Cordero from Puerto Rico wasn't able to renew her visa.

Bournemouth Girls do well at Nationals

Bournemouth Sports Table Tennis Club

Hannah Hicks, Sanja Clements and Chloe Thomas all produced the goods at their respective National Championships. Hannah reached the semis of the Women's Open (only losing to winner Jo Drinkall) and the semis of the Doubles with Sanja. She must surely have done enough by reaching the top 4 (and quite comfortably) to merit selection for the Commonwealths in Glasgow later in the summer. Sanja demonstrated she is still in the top flight by reaching the final of the Veterans Singles and winning the Veteran Doubles with Emma Rose.

Junior British League - Final Weekend

Bournemouth Sports Table Tennis Club

Success for the Bournemouth Sports Junior Boys who won Division 1 and have now gained promotion into the Premier for next season. The team consisting of Jamie Trevillion, Hugo Pang, Finn Morgan-Bayliss and Zac Dowling even though winning the Division found things a lot tougher in the final weekend of matches of February 8th-9th. After the first weekend the boys were 3 points ahead of 2nd placed Ireland, after winning all their matches, so they just needed to make sure they did enough in the final weekend of matches to secure 1st place.

Senior British League Update

Sorry for failing to keep you up to date with Bournemouth Sports progress in the Senior British League Division 1 South. Since our last report the team has completed a weekend and one day of matches.
