Sophie features in Sports Council Awards Evening

Bournemouth Sports Table Tennis Club

Eight year old Sophie Barcsai featured in the Poole Sports Council's Awards Evening on Wednesday the 20th September 2017. The Sports Awards are held annually to celebrate exceptional sporting success in the Borough of Poole. Many of the awards were for teams from clubs or schools over a number of different sports in the area. Sophie's Certificate of Commendation was the only one for our sport of table tennis and she was one of the two youngest athletes in the arena.

End June Training Camp

Will members please note that we shall be running a camp at the end of June on Thursday 29th from 1100 till 1630, Friday 30th from 1000 till 1630 and Saturday 1st July from 0930 till 1230. During these times the club will not be available for normal practice. Evening training on these days will not be affected.

Sophie Barcsai takes Bronze in England Schools

On Saturday 29th April Sophie, representing Dorset, played in the Under 11 event of the England Schools Individuals in Wolverhampton. She is eight years old and has three more years competing in this event. All the other competitors were older mostly ten or in a number of cases already eleven as the cut-off date for participants was September 2016.

Chloe in World University Championships

Bournemouth Sports Table Tennis Club

Chloe Thomas has been selected to represent British Universities in the World University Championships in Taiwan at the end of August 2017. Most members will be unaware that these championships are one of the biggest events in the world, in fact second only to the Olympics and are held every two years in different countries. They embrace a large number of different sports, continue for around one week and feature over ten thousand competitors. Chloe is one of only a small number of competitors from British Universities and the sole competitor from Bournemouth University.

Bournemouth Player at No. 1

Bournemouth Sports Table Tennis Club

Interesting that Bournemouth Sports Club once again has a young player right at the top of the English rankings/ratings. This is young Sophie Barcsai currently just 7 years of age and not 8 till 2017. In a recent tournament for young players in Pymouth she won both the U9 and U10 events, which were mixed, with boys and girls competing on level terms.

Xmas Club Closure

Will all members please note that the club will be closed for play from 1200 noon on Friday 23rd December till 1000 on the morning of Boxing Day 26th December. This is for the usual annual varnishing of the floor in the hall.

Friday 28th October Day's Training

Will members please note that on Friday 28th we shall be running a training day for some of our younger players between 1000 and 1600 and that the club will not be available for normal practice between these hours.
