NOTICE of ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING.
Notice is hereby given of the PROPOSED ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING of the BOURNEMOUTH and DISTRICT TABLE TENNIS ASSOCIATION.
To be held on (Date) FRIDAY 28th JUNE 2013
To be held at (Time) 20.00 (8.00pm)
At the Venue of (Place) WINTON YMCA, Jameson Road, Winton
(In the main hall at ground floor level)
Played at Cippenham on the weekend 20/21st April, Bournemouth Sports finished in fourth position in the play-offs for the right to be in the Premier Division next season. Although well beaten 8-0 by the all-conquering Greenhouse Progress team they came very close to snatching the second qualifying spot. After 6-2 wins against both Derwent and Godalmling Coversure, they drew 4-4 with Speedwell Chesterfield and lost 3-5 to Urban Progress, the second place finishers.
The team consisting of George Downing, Hannah Hicks, Nathan Bingham and Stephen Foster all managed to win several matches against higher ranked opponents and the three male players should see a big leap in the next National Ranking List. George and Stephen won 6/10, Nathan 4/10 and Hannah 3/10.
At local level Bournemouth players are dominant. In the Bournemouth One Star Hugo Pang beat Nathan Bingham in the semis of the Seniors and Stephen Foster in the final. In the cadet events Zac Dowling picked up a first and Chloe Cass a second place. On the finals night of the Premier Division of the Bournemouth and District League it will again be Hugo Pang and Steven Foster! In the Southampton League finals Steven won the Open, the Premier and the doubles with Ed Slot.
Good results in the Schools Individuals for Bournemouth players. Hugo Pang, now at number 4 in Cadets, was never seriously troubled in the U13 Boys till the semis, when he went 1 -- 2 down against Josh Bennett, only to come back strongly to win in 5. However in the final it was one way traffic with England No 1, Tom Jarvis, winning 3 -- 0. In the U13 Girls Amy Blagbrough also cruised to the semis where she met Kate Cheer, England No 2 in under 13's. This was a cracking match, which went right to the wire in the 5th set.
Both Chloe and Hannah are selected (by their respective Associations) for the Commonwealth Championships in Delhi early in May. Chloe is currently playing in the Baltic Cup in Estonia, where she finished in 5th place in the team event with team mate Charlotte Carey and reached the last 32 in the singles. Chloe has rather more interesting preparation for the Commonwealths in that she will spend seven days acclimatising and training in Dubai before flying on to India while Hannah will make do with a training camp in England! Good luck to both girls.
The club will be closed on weekend of May 24 – 26, 2013, for the sixth edition of the world’s largest sport and music festival, being held at Bournemouth Sports Club in Christchurch.

The Natwest Jersey Open, now in its 7th year, attracted its biggest entry ever over this Easter, with high level players from the UK, Turkey and Slovakia. Bournemouth had 2 Women's Teams in the Open Event and Sanja Clements competed too in the mixed Veteran's Team with Jane Vickers. The 2 Women's Teams ended up playing each other in the final with Hannah Hicks and Chloe Thomas beating Tressa Armitage and Sanja Clements 3 -- 0. But the upset of the tournament was in the semi when Tressa and Sanja destroyed the No 1 Seeds, Alice Loveridge and Emma Vickers 3 --1.
